Our Story
Eric and Laura met in 1985 when he was a freshman at SHSU and she was just starting junior high school. Laura remembers Eric as her Mom’s favorite voice student and the star of all the opera performances. Eric remembers Laura as Ms. Corbin’s mischievous younger daughter, always getting in trouble. Fast forward decades later (many, many decades), and they have built a life that is full of love and joy.
“More than anything else, we spend so much of our time just laughing together.” Laura said. “It’s one of my favorite things about Eric, the way he takes any situation and makes me laugh about it.” And Eric stated, “I love Laura’s giggle. It was the first thing that drew me to her.”
Eric and Laura and their rescue Great Pyrenees Baloo have made their home in The Woodlands. They also share their home with Eric’s sons Owen and Tristan, who Laura adores. In fact, Eric proposed to Laura in the family room, stating “This is our home where we live all of our lives as a family and this is where I want to spend the rest of our lives…together.”
They also have a small ranch just outside of Round Top, where they go to relax and try to hide the fact that they are actually City Folk by wearing lots of Carhartt clothes and “talkin’ cattle.” Eric is currently in the market for a cowboy hat and Laura is pretending to support him in this endeavor. Eric is continuously trying to stop Laura from buying baby goats to raise/ bring into the ranch house.
When they’re not breaking in work boots or buying ranch cubes, Eric teaches 10th grade English at a local high school. Laura has been a practicing Neonatologist for 16 years in multiple neonatal ICUs. She is currently taking a break from that role to care for her mother and godmother.
Even after years of being in love, Eric and Laura are both still in awe of and overwhelmed by how it feels to have so much support from a partner in life. They are also incredibly grateful for the continued support of so many beloved friends and family. They cannot wait to share this wonderful event of their marriage with all of you.
